Dr. Wei-Chih Wang, Professor

        Biography

Dr. Wei-Chih Wang, Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (1996) from the University of Washington, is currently a Professor at National Tsing Hua University and an Affiliated Professor in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Washington. His research focuses on cutting-edge polymer-based advanced materials, MEMS, THz technology, and metamaterials for a range of industrial, biomedical, and military applications. More recently, he has pioneered research in amorphous and metamorphous structures for wave manipulation and electromagnetic phenomena across the RF, THz, IR, and visible spectrums. Dr. Wang has authored over 240 publications and holds 35 U.S. and PCT patents and has made significant contributions over the years to distributed pressure/shear sensing, scanning imaging systems, interferometric devices (including those used in Fourier transform spectrometers), diamagnetic materials and devices, soft robotics, and the development of reconfigurable, ultra-broadband antennas and energy harvesting technologies. His research, supported by substantial federal and private funding in both the U.S. and Taiwan, continues to push the boundaries of innovation. Dr. Wang is also widely recognized for his longstanding commitment to promoting diversity in engineering throughout his career.
