Dr. Mingsian R. Bai is a Chair Professor at National Tsing Hua University, a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a Fellow of the Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (STAM), and a past Chairman of the Chinese Society of Sound and Vibration (CSSV). He has published over 260 scientific papers (including highly cited papers on acoustic field imaging) in the fields of acoustics, audio array signal processing, electroacoustic transducers, noise and vibration monitoring and diagnostics, and active noise and vibration control, as well as the monographs entitled "Engineering Acoustics" and "Acoustic Array Systems", and holds over 50 patents. In addition, he has collaborated with industry on many projects and is committed to advancing the state of the art in acoustical engineering. He received the Outstanding Research Award from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Taiwan, in 1995 and 1999, and the Distinguished Research Fellow Award from the NSTC in 2023.
