Dr. Meng-Hsuan Tien, Associate Professor

        Biography

Dr. Meng-Hsuan "Mark" Tien is an Associate Professor in the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University. He was granted tenure in February 2025, after joining the department as an Assistant Professor in August 2020. Dr. Tien received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in May 2020. He earned his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2011 and his B.S. from National Central University in 2009. He currently leads the Dynamics and Nonlinear Structures & Systems Laboratory (DyNoS Lab).

Dr. Tien's research focuses on nonlinear dynamics, with a primary emphasis on computational modeling and experimental investigation of structural systems. His work has led to the development of innovative computational tools that enable the analysis and control of high-dimensional systems across diverse engineering domains. Key application areas include the modeling and analysis of aerospace structures, system identification of nonlinear systems, vibration control in automation machinery, and optimization of vibration energy harvesting technologies.
