摘要:Over decades, periodic structures have been viewed as good candidates for vibration reduction or noise isolation. One typical example is phononic crystals consisting of periodically distributed inclusions in a matrix. Those crystals exhibiting the phenomenon of bandgaps can cause attenuation in wave amplitude. The wave filtering mechanism is attributed to the structural periodicity. Recently, there has been a rising interest in a new class of materials named locally resonant acoustic/elastic metamaterials. Those kinds of materials possess unusual physics properties that do not exist in the natural materials and have been proven useful in attenuating low-ferquency sound/vibration. By altering the geometric/physical properties of metamaterials, the desired bandgap can be easily obtained.
